Light in the Dark

Ever walked a beach on the suns set?

The edge of day and night having just met.

When the brightness of day,

gave way

The darkness becomes deeper,

stronger and longer.

And then, as the shadows cloak descends

and daytime ends,

A star appears.

That small sight of bright,

at first, an illusion, unproven - in the shadow.

But then this welcome intrusion from a far off fusion,

becomes the first light in a galaxy of blackness.

And just like the celestial study,

dark times can fall upon us.

Amongst economic doom and gloom,

there’ll still be a doorway to another room.

One filled with the right light,

to set your jaw and enter the fight,

for a new future.

And just like a star in a darkened sky,

the answer to the question of who or why.

Will be answered by the early twinkle in the eclipse,

that person who gets real and comes to grips

with the new world.

They’ll process the grief and loss,

and soon figure out they’re the boss

of their own destiny.

Sure, there’ll be things beyond control,

but there’s also plenty of things within it;

to not play victim and get on with it

To take on those shadows

and the bleak night sky.

Shine glimmers of hope,

walk forward, with their head held high.

Now’s a time for our stars to shine,

it’s the twilight hour for yours and mine.

And no matter the depth of the opaque,

it’ll be the stars we need for this great remake.
